In collaboration with Clarity, Greengage has announced the roll-out of ECOsmart on Clarity’s booking platform .
Clarity will integrate ECOsmart, the independently verified certification from Greengage, via API into their proprietary booking technologies, ClarityGo and MeetingsPro. This initiative allows both Clarity’s suppliers and customers to collaborate with Clarity and Greengage to achieve their sustainability objectives.
Pat McDonagh, Clarity’s CEO, highlighted; “Over the last three years, we’ve been a trusted partner of Greengage, strategically collaborating on ways we can work together to help customers reach their sustainability goals and hotel programmes. Customers have the assurance we are working with responsible suppliers. Likewise, by providing our suppliers access to this programme, means they can benchmark and improve their sustainability practices continuously.”
The ECOsmart certification process is tailored specifically for the corporate travel market and involves a thorough evaluation by independent auditors. This assessment covers a range of sustainability practices, from infrastructure and waste management to green meeting packages and food policies. Properties can earn certifications ranging from Bronze to Platinum, with the certification process encouraging ongoing improvements in sustainability.
For bookers, the integration of ECOsmart into Clarity’s booking platform means they can easily search for and choose certified properties, clearly marked with a digital badge. This enables companies and individual travellers to make informed decisions about their accommodation options, without the need for additional research.
Andrew Perolls, Greengage’s Founder and CEO expressed excitement about integrating ECOsmart directly into a TMC, “We’re delighted to be partnering with Clarity to take what has already been done with ECOsmart in venue find directories, directly into a TMC for the first time. This joint initiative is part of the wider consultancy we offer Clarity customers and internal training to Clarity employees.”
Kirsty Given, Clarity’s Director of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, explained: “The implementation of ECOsmart with our booking technology demonstrates our commitment to being a sustainable business and our wider investment in sustainable solutions, services, and technology that we provide for our customers. ECOsmart provides a clear and accurate way for bookers to make informed sustainable choices at the point of booking, which is something we know our customers want to be empowered to do.”
The first phase, starting in December, will see the roll out of ECOsmart across a selection of properties and venues, making certified properties visible in ClarityGo and MeetingsPro.
