Wyboston Lakes Resort: Our Journey to ‘More Sustainable, No Apology’
At Wyboston Lakes Resort, sustainability is not an initiative — it’s embedded in our culture and operations. Guided by our ethos “More Sustainable, No Apology,” we are on a transformative journey to become a regenerative business.
We’ve achieved zero waste to landfill since 2015, reduced our carbon footprint by 65% through renewable energy sourcing, and planted over 60,000 trees via our award-winning Room2Grow scheme. In 2023, we launched a £5 million Green Energy Roadmap, with solar, wind, and heat pump technology to reach Net Zero (Scopes 1 & 2) by 2027.
Social responsibility is equally core to our mission. Recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 Best Large Companies to Work For, we proudly ranked 6th in Leisure & Hospitality, with a BCI score of 740.2 — a testament to our strong workplace culture, inclusivity, and values-driven leadership. We have 18 trained Mental Health First Aiders, and deep-rooted community engagement — including support for local charities, schools, and inclusion programmes.
Governance underpins our strategy, with transparent reporting aligned to Science Based Targets and full Scope 1–3 emissions tracking.
Our journey is driven by passion, partnership, and purpose — helping our people, guests, and planet flourish together.

Launch of the Carbon Descent Plan at BMA House
In 2019, BMA House commissioned an eco-audit to evaluate our consumption, emissions, waste, and usage. The ‘BMA Carbon Neutral Pathway,’ was launched in 2023 in response. This sets our sustainability strategy for achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
Innovative Carbon Calculator
A standout initiative this year was the introduction of our carbon calculator tool. This helps clients estimate/reduce event carbon footprint, making it easier to make responsible choices.
Sustainable Catering
We have eliminated red meat from menus. This has significantly reduced carbon emissions associated with catering services. Over 70% of our menus are now non-meat based. Additionally, we have implemented meat-free Mondays, low-carbon breakfasts, and Community Blend coffee.
We provide local supplier maps, “The London Larder”, showcasing our commitment to local producers and reduced food miles.
Through Foodsteps our menus display the carbon impact of each item. The A-E rating allows individuals to make choices that align with their own ethos.
Sustainable Refurbishments
The Garden room was transformed into an eco-conscious space, installing energy-efficient lighting, use of sustainable materials, and improved insulation.
The Great Hall now features state-of-the-art lighting that uses significantly less energy. The materials used in the refurbishment were selected for their environmental credentials.
Comprehensive Waste Management
We ensure ZERO waste goes to landfill. Our waste is meticulously segregated for recycling or recovery.

Cascade Production’s Sustainability Initiatives
We are Cascade, a brand engagement agency specializing in events, content, and film, and we are excited to be the official video and photography sponsor for the Greengage Sustainability Awards 2025. Sustainability is a core value for us, and we are currently in the process of applying for ISO 14001 certification.
We actively support suppliers and venues that prioritize eco-friendly practices and have clear sustainability and ESG strategies in place. Internally, we focus on reducing our environmental impact by minimizing unnecessary travel, cutting waste, and promoting recycling and reusing.
We also encourage our clients to utilize measurable trackers to offset CO2 emissions and promote social governance within the local areas when selecting venues for their events. Our clients are increasingly engaged in giving back through their event bookings, and we are proud to contribute to this positive change. Supporting local communities and advancing ESG efforts in the event industry not only reflects our commitment to sustainability but also showcases the progress we are making in creating a more eco-conscious event landscape.
Clarity Business Travel’s Sustainability Approach
As a business, we agreed that fundamentally our approach should align with ‘being a good citizen’ in both the way we operate and how we do business.
In 2024, our Director of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability hosted a knowledge exchange with a variety of customers and shared how we can support them in more sustainable business travel. This is part of a wider programme of events and customer interaction taking place. We laid the foundations to launch a new supplier code of conduct to our travel partners. This document sets out Clarity’s expectations for operating more sustainability and opens the door to further conversations on how we can support our suppliers on their sustainability journey.
Clarity’s long-term sustainability goals fall into four workstreams – Responsible Business, Sustainable Solutions, Confident Conversations and Expert Connections – that have an impact across three key groups – people & community, planet and governance. This is mirrored within our specialist events division, Brighter, as we led the industry in achieving the ISO 20121 certification for sustainable meetings and events.
We are committed to supporting customers make more sustainable travel choices, working closely with them to increase accuracy of CO2 reporting and create bespoke sustainable travel programs.
